  • Chester M. Vernon Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship

    Eligibility: Applicants must registered and active members of a Boy Scout troop, Sea Scout team or Venturing crew who have received the Eagle Scout award. They must be active members of a synagogue and have received their Ner Tamid or Etz Chaim religious emblems. Students must be high school seniors and demonstrate good citizenship and financial need.

    How to apply: Applications are available online. An application form, two letters of recommendation, essays and a self-addressed stamped postcard are required.

    Eligibility: Applicants must be Jewish teens, U.S. residents and between 13 and 19 years old. Two references and an application form are required. Teens' projects can help either the Jewish community or the general community as long as they have not been remunerated for their services. Teens may be nominated by any community member who knows the importance of their project except family members or may also nominate themselves.

    Eligibility: Applicants must be in grades 7 through 12. Grades 7 through 9 are level one, and grades 10 through 12 are level two. Applicants must submit essays on Jewish-related topics listed on the website, and essays must be typed, double-spaced and a minimum of 250 words. Level one essays may not be more than 1,000 words. Level two essays may not be more than 1,500 words. A recent level one topic has been, "What person of importance to the Jewish people, past or present, would you like to meet and why?" A recent level two topic has been, "Antisemitism plagues all Jews regardless of religious adherence. How do you see yourself reacting to it?"
