Applicants are encouraged to use the Gratiot County Historical and Genealogical Society, and/or other local historical and genealogical societies, as a resource in writing the historical essay which will be archived at the Gratiot County Historical and Genealogical Society as a resource for future research.

  • National History Day Contest

    Eligibility: Applicants must be in grades 6-12 and prepare throughout the school year history presentations based on an annual theme. Around February or March students compete in district History Day contests. District winners then prepare for the state contests, held usually in April or May. Those winners advance to the national contest held in June at the University of Maryland.
