    Eligibility: Applicants must be studying full-time at the sophomore level or higher at an accredited institution and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students must also demonstrate leadership, volunteer, civic or academic service. The program is open to students without regard to sex, race, creed, color, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or disability. Students do not need to be members of Alpha Kappa Alpha.

    How to apply: Applications are available online. An application form, personal statement and three letters of recommendation are required.

  • Newman Civic Fellow Awards

    Eligibility: Emphasis is on students who have demonstrated leadership abilities and significant interest in civic responsibility. Students must attend one of the 1,000 Campus Compact member institutions and be nominated by the Campus Compact member president. Applicants must be sophomores or juniors at four-year colleges or must attend a two-year college.

    Eligibility: Applicants must be high school juniors or seniors in an elected position at school or in civic or educational offices. USSYP brings the highest level officials from each branch of government together with a group of 104 high school student delegates for an intensive week-long educational program held in Washington, DC.
