  • Scholarships in Mathematics Education
    Deadline: May 9
    Amount: $1,500

    Sponsor: Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics

    Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited Illinois postsecondary institution in an undergraduate mathematics education curriculum that provides preparation for becoming a teacher. They must be rising juniors or seniors who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a four-point scale. Applicants must be pursuing a first bachelor's degree. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

    How to apply: Applications are available online. An application form, lesson planning form, personal essay, two recommendation letters and a transcript are required.

  • Teacher Loan Program
    Deadline: Contact sponsor to confirm deadline
    Amount: Up to $10,000

    Sponsor: State of Wisconsin Higher Educational Aids Board

    Eligibility: Applicants must be Wisconsin residents who are undergraduate sophomores, juniors or seniors. Students must be enrolled at least half-time at a University of Wisconsin System institution or a non-profit, independent college or university in the state of Wisconsin and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must be pursuing programs leading to teacher licensure in a discipline identified as a teacher shortage area for the state of Wisconsin. Students who participate in this program must agree to teach full-time in an elementary or secondary school in the city of Milwaukee or in a county defined as "rural". For each year the applicants meet all forgiveness criteria requirements, 25 percent of the loan is forgiven.
